Street Beets July 7th, 2015: What do Flowers and Juice have in common?

These are Rainier Cherries from Kim's BC Fruit Truck. We have a long standing agreement with the City to rent space to this 25 year vendor. Kim and Harry own an orchard in Oliver, BC! They provide fruits we can't grow in Saskatchewan. These Rainier Cherries are sweet and firm. Great for eating! Also from Kim's BC Fruit, Van Cherries! You can get different size packages at this booth too. 1lb, 2lb, and 5lb packages! Delicious, slightly more tart than Rainier and a rich red inside. These are Tomcots from Kim's BC Fruit Truck! They will have many varieties of apricots and cherries for the next few weeks. They all have a different time for seasonal picking. In two to three weeks a variety of peaches will be ready. These Tomcots have bright orange flesh, strong flavour and are slightly tart. I must admit my diet the past few days consisted mainly of these three fruits! A delicious few days it has been!

So I asked the question? What do juice and flowers have in common? Well they are both Saskatchewan companies with high quality products. We approved them at the same time. They use local Saskatchewan products at their booth. But what they really have in common is they are both coming for their first Market tomorrow! One would be Thrive Juice, a company devoted to healthy and tasty fruit and/or vegetable juice blends. Brightly coloured, great taste, and good for you. I think they will quickly become a crowd favourite. The other is Wascana Flower Shoppe with gorgeous handcrafted flowers, bouquets, head garlands, and fairy gardens. They work with two large farms in Saskatchewan to provide local cut flowers to the Market. Look for Rosie the Flower Truck to beautify your table! I recommend that you romantic types get out there and buy a bouquet for your loved one! They plan to change their bouquets and flower of the Market frequently. Once you see what they do you'll want to have fresh flowers every week!

Tomorrow's Market is a big one! Here is our Vendor Map for tomorrow in PDF. You can get a better look by zooming on this document. The customers have really been enjoying these Markets. It has been great to see. It is only a week and a day until our first Market under the Stars. I always get a little sleepless and excited right before. I hope you can come out to at least one this year. Over 1000 people have entered into the Market underthe Stars Ticket Contest. For those of you who don't win, you can find the tickets at the center of the Plaza in our Ticket Booth. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow! Ada
