Fall Indoor Farmers' Market

Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre

Fall Indoor Farmers' Market

It’s official: We're gearing up for the holidays in earnest!

There are only six more farmers' markets (plus two Holiday Night Markets) in 2018!

Vendor Spotlight: The Scandinavian Sweethearts

With only 36 more sleeps until the last farmers’ market of 2018, we’ll be counting down a list of our favourite featured vendors every day from now until December 22. Here’s a sneak peek of tomorrow’s featured vendor: The Scandinavian Sweethearts.

No holiday spread is complete without a tasty array of pickles, and that’s just some of what the Sweethearts have to offer! Don’t forget to sample their unique Scandinavian delicacies… if you arrive early tomorrow morning, you will find Norwegian lefse (flatbread) and Icelandic vinarterta (cake, pictured here).

Find Synde and the rest of the Sweethearts at all Saturday markets until December 22, and at both Holiday Night Markets on November 29 and December 13! Find out more here.

Holidays = More Vendors each week

As the holidays approach, we’ll start to see a gradual increase in vendors, as more and more producers start bringing their best and most festive wares to contribute to your holiday table and gift list. Tomorrow we welcome back:

Hi Low Angus, with their Angus beef products

Latino BakeShop, home from Chile with his array of frozen empanadas

Loretta’s Distinctive Jewellery

Mother Hubbard, with all the yummiest Ukrainian delicacies (pictured above)

Sadza Arts & Crafts, wth their batik and jewelery (this is their first market in 2018!)

Prairie Bee Meadery, with their assortments of fruit flavoured honey wines

Customer Reward from Mix Granola

We’re not messing around this week… our Flok reward is a good one! Mix Small Batch Granola will be offering a 200-gram sampler bag of Pumpkin Harvest Granola (valued at $7.00, pictured above).

If you’re a regular Mix customer you know that this is a fantastic reward! And if you’ve never had a chance to try their granola, there is no better opportunity. Pro tip: it's delicious on yoghurt and even better on vanilla ice-cream!

Farmers’ Market Brunches continue

Holiday Shopping takes energy, so we want to make sure you’re sufficiently fuelled with some hearty breakfast and lunch options. For the next two weeks, Larry of Larry’s Bread Machine/Going with the Grain will be offering market brunch out of the Core Ritchie kitchen. Included below is tomorrow's menu:

Waffles with berries and whipped cream $6

Toasted bagel and cream cheese $4

Bagel/Croissant sandwich (egg, bacon, cheese) $6

Classic bagel (with lox, cream cheese, capers, onion) $6

Breakfast Club (2 eggs, cheese, bacon, potato) $10

Prosciutto & Cheese Croissant $6

New Cash Option at the Market

It happens to the best of us. You're happily shopping at the market when suddenly--gasp--you're low on cash. Never fear, dear shopper!

Visit the RFM Information Booth at any market (near the main entrance) and we will happily hook you up with some Market Money. We now accept debit tap and all major credit cards. Market Money is sold in $20 strips with perforated $5 pieces so you can split them up. Market Money is accepted like cash at all RFM vendors market-wide so you can shop until you drop without they worry of running short on scratch.

More great things about Market Money:

  • Forget scratch and win tickets! Market Money is a guaranteed win and the perfect addition to a card or Christmas stocking.
  • Make all of the teachers, coaches, and childcare providers in your life smile with the gift of local goodness.
  • It's one size fits all. No long return lines on December 26!

Holiday Night Markets approach

There are less than two weeks to go before our first of two Holiday Night Markets! Don't miss these festive events filled with local food, live music, and craft beer, wine, and spirits. Respond to our event HERE to receive updates and vendor spotlights.

STEAM Saturdays continue at the RPL

Tomorrow’s amazing STEAM (science/technology/engineering/art/math) activity is MakeDo! Visit the library during your farmers' market visit and take your cardboard construction skills to the next level with their Makedo kit. The Makedo kit consists of construction tools that are specifically designed to be used on cardboard. You can build anything from a fort to a kitchen set, the possibilities are endless.

And don't forget to ask the librarian for a Flok punch if you participate in the activity, use your library card, or sign up for a new card!
