Regina Farmers’ Market Relaunches Nutrition Coupon Program for 2026 and 2027 Seasons with Support from Nutrien

Since 1975 the Regina Farmers’ Market has connected Saskatchewan producers with the people of Regina. As a non-profit cooperative, we proudly offer a year-round farmers’ market, where every product is made, baked, grown, or designed in Saskatchewan. Farmers' markets play an essential role in building resilient local food systems, improving food security, and supporting sustainable agriculture, which is why we are pleased to announce the return of our Nutrition Coupon Program this fall.

Designed to address food insecurity, the Nutrition Coupon Program provides low-income individuals and families with weekly coupons to buy fresh, locally grown food from farmers’ market vendors. The program, inspired by successful models in British Columbia and Nova Scotia, was designed to address food insecurity by increasing access to healthy food, while supporting local producers and keeping dollars in our community.

We are incredibly grateful to Nutrien, for sponsoring and supporting this program. Their generous donation allows us to help combat food insecurity by providing low income individuals and families with Nutrition Coupon vouchers to purchase fresh local produce. We are also truly grateful to our partners at YWCA for helping us to distribute nutrition coupons to low income families and individuals.

How does the program work?

Through partnership with the YWCA, we are able to identify participants for the program. Participants are then able to collect their Nutrition Coupon vouchers from staff at the Regina Farmers’ Market. Individual participants receive $40 coupons each week, while families receive $80. Coupons are then redeemed directly with vendors, giving participants the dignity of choice in how to spend their coupons. Vendors are then able to redeem coupons collected for cash via market staff. Unclaimed coupons are used by staff to purchase produce for donation on a weekly basis.

How can I get involved?

If you want to help increase the impact, you can donate to the program by:

Cash Donation: Donations can be made via card or cash at any market at the information booth.
