Regina Farmers' Market (RFM) is a non-profit co-operative, the members of which are our Saskatchewan-based vendors.
RFM operates in Regina, Saskatchewan with both Indoor and Outdoor Farmers' Markets and the year-round RFM Online Store. Our products are made, baked, grown, or designed in Saskatchewan and represent the growing diversity of our city and province. Beginning in 1975, we are proud to continue our collaborations with local entrepreneurs and farmers as the original Farmers' Market experience in Regina.
- Our Mission: To provide the highest quality Saskatchewan products directly to our customers through mutually beneficial relationships.
- Our Vision: To be the destination for the highest quality local products.
RFM Land Acknowledgement
The Regina Farmers' Market operates on Treaty 4, the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, as well as the homeland of the Metis Nation. We would like to begin the story of our history by acknowledging Indigenous and Métis people organized collaborative societies and sustainable food systems on this land for thousands of years prior to settlers setting up co-operative markets like the Regina Farmers' Market.
Regina Farmers’ Market Co-operative (RFM) was incorporated in 1975, building on the success of a four-market pilot project in August 1974. The founding farmers incorporated the co-operative and held the first official Regina Farmers’ Market on August 9, 1975 at Regina’s Exhibition Grounds. Farmer-driven from the start, the inaugural Regina Farmers’ Market season was attended by 22 producers and took place over a short fall harvest season. Since then, the RFM has evolved to include a weekly event throughout all four Saskatchewan seasons with over 100 vendors selling a diverse range of Saskatchewan-made products.
The RFM has had many great locations over the years including:
The Exhibition Grounds (1975-1981)
1800 Block Hamilton St (1982-1986)
The ViaRail parking lot (now Casino Regina) (1987-1994)
1900 Block Scarth St (1995-2009)
City Hall (2010-2011)
City Square Plaza (2011-present)
Additionally, in 2019 the RFM began a new milestone where we welcomed our new Indoor Market home at the Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre (445 - 14th Ave).
When COVID-19 hit Saskatchewan in March of 2020, our team had to shut down in-person markets and do some quick thinking. In the span of a few months we turned around and created the Regina Farmers' Market Online Store, selling 1000s of products from our loyal vendors through a difficult time for our community. As of 2021, we have a headquarters on 1118 Broad Street where we manage our weekly online orders, pick ups, and mastermind the future of our farmers' market!
On July 11, 2021 the Government of Saskatchwan lifted all COVID-19 restrictions and the RFM responeded with continuing to run both in-person farmers' markets at City Square Plaza, and operating the RFM Online store simultaneously. Keeping the community connected to local goods in a safe environment remains a top priority for the organization.
Since 1975, the RFM has been a local leader in food sustainability and sovereignty. In addition to valuing our founding and long-time members, we also actively embrace new and innovative products and production methods from across the province. Many entrepreneurs have graduated from the RFM to become local community businesses and we are proud to facilitate community growth in a local direction.
