June 15 Map & Spring Veggies!

We hope you've been enjoying all the spring veggies, like these radishes, green onions and lettuce from Heliotrope Organic Farm. Cucumbers, tomatoes and herbs have also been abundant. Next up, we'll see strawberries, beans and peas! Perhaps baby potatoes will be ready in a couple weeks, and then saskatoon berries! Rumour has it they'll be early this year...

There's still time to plant a garden, if you'd like to grow your own vegetables. Mitchell's All Natural Foods brings beautiful chemical-free bedding plants to RFM, such as these tomatoes (pictured) in multiple varieties. Roma, Celebrity and Sub Arctic Maxi are highly recommended. Other plants available include: basil, oregano, dill, and parsley. If you'd rather let Mitchell's All Natural Foods do the growing, they've got no problem with that! Chemical-free veggies available in packages tomorrow: green onions, lettuce, spinach, basil, radishes, potatoes, and rhubarb. Coming soon: garlic scapes, baby potatoes, beans, and peas.

Bina's Ethnic Foods of Nepal became a vendor earlier this year. Nepalese food is heavily influenced by China and India, which comes as no surprise if you're familiar with the geography. Bina started out with green onion cakes, a variation on a Chinese dish of the same name. Recently, other traditional items have been added to the menu, such as samosas, curried potato salad, chickpea/bean salad, and cilantro chutney. The chutney is a natural fit as a condiment for both the green onion cakes and the samosas, but I suspect cilantro lovers will put it on everything. The salads come in containers that would be the perfect size for a side-dish or snack; try something new and add one to your lunch tomorrow!

Amarah Elizabeth and Hi Low Angus attend Wednesday markets occasionally; they'll both be in attendance tomorrow. Cuppa' T', Metal Majesty, Rosie the Flower Truck, and Howland's Honey are back.
