May 28 Map & Market Highlights

Cheang's Sinofood has introduced a new product–MOON CAKES! Moon cakes are pastries filled with a slightly sweet, dense filling and are traditionally eaten during the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. They're usually round and large enough to be sliced into wedges, but many variations are becoming more common. Cheang's Sinofood is making square, single-serving sized moon cakes with fillings made from adzuki or mung beans. Three types will be available: Moon Cake, Snowy Moon Cake (pictured) and Paste Moon Cake. How should you eat a moon cake? With tea, of course!

Another new product, hemp seeds, will be available for the first time at market tomorrow. South Valley Farm used to attend RFM years ago with fresh berries. After some changes on the farm along with new interests, they're ready to return! Tomorrow, South Valley Farm will be providing dehulled hemp seeds and asparagus. Later on, they'll also have gluten free oats and sour cherries.

Rainy days on the Plaza aren't all that bad...they make for some pretty pics! The S & S Flowers booth was glistening with raindrops on Wednesday, and this hosta in particular really caught my eye. I love how a sprinkling of water intensifies the green. Sharon of S & S Flowers grows her plants with love and is always willing to answer any gardening questions you might have.

Tomorrow will be the first outdoor market of the year for Stellar Gourmet! For those customers that have been inquiring about Stellar Gourmet's whereabouts, your chance has come to get fresh oyster mushrooms! Belle Plaine Colony will be attending their first market of 2016 with radishes and flowers. Sadly, tomorrow will be the last market of the season for Reem's Kitchen. We'll have to live without date cookies and spinach rolls for a while, but when Reem returns, there will be a new market baby!

Take a look at the vendor LIST to see who is in attendance and the market MAP to see where you'll find them.

See you at market!
