Nutrition Coupon Program Holiday Fundraiser
Give the Gift of Local Food this Holiday Season!
Farmers' markets are, at their core, about building and sustaining community. Our community supports our producers year-round. Each week, connections are forged around a love for local food, and a passion for supporting our neighbors. RFM’s Nutrition Coupon Program is a way for us to share that love and passion and give back to our community.
The first of its kind in Saskatchewan, the program was inspired by successful initiatives by farmers’ markets in British Columbia and Nova Scotia. The program aims to combat food insecurity by increasing access to fresh, local produce while simultaneously supporting local farmers’ market growers.
Through a partnership between RFM, generous community donors, and local nonprofit organizations, the program will provide Market Money coupons weekly to priority populations that have been identified by our nonprofit partners. These coupons can then be redeemed at any RFM market for a variety of nutritious local foods, including vegetables, fruits, eggs, herbs, honey, and meat.
The program will run for 16 weeks during our peak season from July - October. Eligible individuals will receive $20/week, couples will receive $40/week, and families will receive $60/week.
In the program’s first year, during the 2025 farmers’ market season, our goal is to support 20 people in receiving access to fresh, nutritious, local produce. This makes our fundraising goal $6400.
