Sept. 21 Map & New Products!
Cheang's Sinofood received a lot of love during Market Under the Stars this summer, particularly for their curried chicken steamed buns. Because of the positive feedback, Cheang's Sinofood thought it necessary to add another kind of steamed bun – BBQ pork!
The pork filling is made with a homemade five-spice BBQ sauce. Star anise, fennel, cinnamon, clove, and Szechwan pepper, along with oyster oil, soy sauce and honey, give these steamed buns a characteristic sweet and savoury flavour.
Unlike buying steamed buns at Market Under the Stars, these ones are frozen to take home and reheat. But I promise the extra step is well worth it!
Fall may not be everyone's favourite season, but it just might be a bakers' favourite. Cooler temperatures outside make for a less sweltering kitchen while baking, it's appropriate to use warm and comforting spices, and customers demand pumpkin everything!
Pies aren't the only things made better with pumpkin; the addition of pumpkin to loaves, muffins, cakes, or cookies lends a moist and pleasing texture.
Our German Cake Witch has fully embraced fall – market pumpkins temporarily decorate her table, destined for the next batch of pumpkin orange spice pound cake and other pumpkin-y treats.
