Street Beets November 24th, 2012: Award Winning Honey, Feta, and Honey Cinnamon Liqueur.

Zee Bee is excited to share their results from the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Honey Show. Here is what what Michelle wrote: We thought we had some great honey this year so decided to ship some off to Toronto and try our luck at the Honey Show.  We entered two classes :

Class 1 – Liquid Honey, White, Open to the provinces west of Ontario

Class 9 – Granulated Honey

The Honey was judged on October 24th and results we not released until November 2nd….Opening day of the Fair! We were so excited when we got the results…….we placed 1st place in both classes – plus we recieved a special Trophy from the Canadian Honey Council for the Best Exhibit of Granulated Honey. http://www.royalfair.org/assets/pdf/812_oney_esults.pdf. How exciting that Saskatchewan honey won these awards!

Well, it finally happened. The day I hoped for. Chicken Spinach Feta Pizza, Feta on my salads, Feta on crackers, Feta, Feta, Feta! Salayview Farms will be presenting Feta Cheese for the first time at Regina Farmers' Market. Their farm is the little farm that could! So now beside many flavours of spreadable goat cheese and yogurt, they'll be tempting you with locally made Feta from their lovely dwarf goats! Keep up the good work Salayview! As always you can get a sample at their booth.

Another new product? Could it be that Regina Farmers' Market has the best vendors in the world? Award Winning, expansion minded, and just good, no awesome! Last Mountain Distillery will be presenting their own Honey Cinnamon Liqueur along with their tried and true vodka and rye whiskey. I heard it is delicious, and my source is never wrong. Can you imagine, a nice sipping liqueur? I am sure there will be some uses in dessert as well.

Howland's Honey will be in, as well as new vendors, Larry's Fresh Rolls and Primal Goodies. For the best food and drink in the local land come on down to the RFM at 2900 13th Avenue, the Cathedral Neighbourhood Center, 9:30 to 1:30 today! Markets will run at this location until December 22nd, Saturdays only. Until next time blog readers! Ada
