Winter Indoor Farmers' Market

We did it! This weekend's market marks the completion of our first-ever Winter Indoor Market season. Thank you to everyone that has come out to shop for locally produced Saskatchewan products and support our transition to year-round markets!

Here's what you can expect this Saturday:

Lentils are your new best friend!

If you've followed the news around the launch of the new Canada Food Guide, you might be aware that whole grains, lentils and other legumes are among the new darlings of healthy eaters across the country. And we are SO pleased to be able to hook you up with these amazing superfoods starting this Saturday.

At tomorrow's market we welcome back long-time RFM vendors David and Hazel of Pure T Organics (pictured above) for their first market of 2019. They'll be on hand with their delicious and nutritious range of certified organic pulses and grains. You'll find green lentils, red lentils, yellow peas, wheat, spelt, and more... as whole grains, whole grain flours, and unique mixes. David is always keen to share recipes and expertise about how to prepare his healthful products.

And here's a PRO TIP: if your looking to save money at the market, ask David about buying in bulk! Whole lentils and grains keep great in your pantry, and buying in bulk is a great way to save on both cash AND packaging.

Know Your Farmer (Part 7): Miller's By-Gone Farm

For our final instalment of Know Your Farmer we'll be featuring Pam Miller of Miller's By-Gone Farm this Saturday at 10 am. Pam will be sharing her farm journey with us, including all the joys and tribulations of running a small, diversified mixed farm.

If you're familiar with Pam's products, you'll know that she brings us an incredible assortment of home-grown, preserved and crafted products, including grass-fed lamb, free-range eggs, preserves, hand-made soap, dried herbs, fresh vegetables, and hand-knitted fibre products from her flock of sheep. Don't miss this one folks! (If you're lucky, you might even get to witness a chick hatching, live on site!)

Know Your Farmer takes place LIVE at the market at 10 am, as well as LIVE on the RFM Facebook Page!

Missed out on last week's special on location interview and tour of Floating Gardens? Check them out anytime.

Thank you to all of our featured Know Your Farmer vendors, and to everyone that tuned in or visited us at the market to learn more about their stories! We hope to bring you many more producer stories in the coming weeks and months.

Have some extra warm clothes kicking around your house? Our neighbours at the Al Ritchie Community Association are in need of gently used winter clothing for families in need. Visit their booth at the farmers' market to drop off your donations!

They also take donations of other gently used clothing, small household items, and unopened body products.
